Top Telugu stars face ire of pro-Telangana groups (Lead)


Hyderabad, Dec 17 (IANS) The Telugu film industry has landed in a crisis, with pro-Telangana activists stopping the screening of movies of actors opposing the proposed separate statehood to the region.
With leading lights of Telugu cinema joining the bandwagon for “United Andhra”, Telanagana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and student groups have “banned” the screening of films starring them or their family members across the region.
Actor-turned-politician K. Chiranjeevi is facing the ire of pro-Telangana groups for his volte-face on Telangana issue.

Telangana activists pelt stones at chief minister’s mee

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (IANS) Telangana activists went on the rampage Friday, pelting stones at a public meeting addressed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and damaging 15 vehicles in Nalgonda district of Telangana region.A few policemen, including a deputy superintendent, were injured when protesters resorted to throwing stones at a meeting the chief minister was addressing as part of “Racchabanda”, a government programme aimed at taking the administration to the doorsteps of people. Tension prevailed at Kondamalley Palli in Nalgonda district as the police resorted to baton charge and burst tear gas shells to control the mob, which damaged 15 government vehicles.

Full Text of Srikrishna Committee Report


The Srikrishna Report on Telangana has been presented to political parties from Andhra Pradesh. The report places before the government several options rather than recommendations.
The two-volume 461-page report of the five-member committee headed by former Supreme Court judge that gave its recommendations after about 11 months of consultation process in the state was released by the home ministry.
The massive Srikrishna Report lays out different options for the union government for how to handle the three parts of the state: Coastal Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema.
